Based on Bennett Music Lab "Brown Sound" effect. LM741 based old school overdrive. Capable of a medium gain snarl and bite thats kindred to the heavy rock and psychedelic rock of the 70s. Not quite VH1 in a box but a full frequency drive that has definition but also grind with gain maxed. This circuit is useful for a subtle pick attack boost, clean boost, or full on drive. When used at high volume and/or with high wattage amplifiers, Brown Acid can attenuate your input signal to avoid clipping your amps input section. The result is added compression/sustain/ and grit and the ability to crank your power section into beefier tube distortion. This is the concept behind the "brown sound", modifying volume of high volume amps to achieve more compression and distortion at lower volume settings. Instead of the variac/ power method ala EVH, Brown Acid can attenuate or boost your input signal to provide a very natural distortion that feels connected to your tone not smeared over the top
